A Lot Has Happened: StartMeUp AI, 20 Months After Launch

In January 2025 we published our very first post, announcing the launch of StartMeUp AI. A lot has happened since that day. The mission is the same, and it has grown even greater.

Back then, we introduced ourselves as a team building enterprise-grade, production-ready backend solutions so startups could focus on growing instead of wrestling with infrastructure. We also introduced a first idea called Byblos AI: a way to turn a founder’s requirements into a clear, buildable plan.

Twenty months later, that first post reads like a seed. This is what grew out of it.

The Same Mission, Even Greater

Our mission has not changed: help startups build with the highest standards, combining AI with human expertise, at a price an early-stage company can actually afford.

What changed is the scope. We launched talking to tech startups. Today we work with founders who are not tech companies at all, but who want to innovate using AI in their own industries.

Beyond Tech: The Industries We Work With Now

The startups we support today come from very different worlds:

  • Medical and well-being: including mental health, where we have helped professionals connect with their patients through AI-powered tools.
  • Insurance: an industry we believed in early, as we wrote in our InsurTech deep dive, and where we now build in practice.
  • Entertainment: bringing AI into products where experience and creativity lead.
  • Administration: streamlining processes that used to eat entire teams’ weeks.
  • And more: from agribusiness to customer support, as we shared in our 2025 year in numbers.

The common thread is not the industry. It is the ambition: every one of these teams wants to use AI seriously, in production, not as a demo.

Building together with AI The same picture we used in our launch post. The way we build together has changed a lot since then.

Bootstrapping, On Purpose

We have been bootstrapping from day one. No outside funding, a small full-time core, interns we train and mentor, and a handful of strategic partners.

That was a deliberate choice. Working directly with our client startups, project after project, is how we learn. Every engagement pays for the next step and teaches us something we could not have learned from a pitch deck.

Staying lean kept us honest. When you build alongside your clients instead of above them, their pain points become your pain points very quickly.

The Pain Points That Taught Us the Most

From our seat, as developers and CTOs

Across more than ten active repositories and over a million lines of production code, the same frictions kept showing up on our side of the table:

  • Setting up the same foundations again and again: CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, documentation standards.
  • Keeping code quality consistent across projects and across a team that includes rotating interns.
  • Code review and testing becoming bottlenecks exactly when deadlines loom.
  • Documentation drifting out of date the moment a project moves fast.

We made our own mistakes here, plenty of them, and each one sharpened how we work.

From our clients’ seat

The founders we work with rarely struggle with the code first. Their pain points live upstream and around it:

  • Product management: turning an idea into validated requirements, personas, and a backlog a developer can actually build from, without hiring a product manager on day one.
  • Brand: keeping a consistent voice, identity, and set of assets while everything about the company is still changing.
  • Campaigns: planning and publishing marketing content across channels while the product is still being built, usually with no marketing team at all.

Turning Lessons Into Byblos AI

Those two lists explain, almost line by line, what Byblos AI became.

The requirements-gathering idea from our launch post evolved into an AI co-founder platform, with specialist agents shaped directly by the pain points above: Product Manager for product management, Brand Manager for brand, Campaign Manager for marketing campaigns, and Co-CTO, which was planned at the time of this September account, for the engineering and CTO-side frictions we lived ourselves working with all these startups including ours.

Update, 21 October 2026: Free needs no card and has no time limit. Launch is available now in beta with self-serve signup and checkout, with no access request. Grow and Byblos AI Pro need an access request and approval before checkout. Co-CTO (private beta) is included in Grow and Pro: it turns your roadmap into technical decisions and GitHub issues, and reviews pull requests, while your developers or coding agents implement the software. Video Studio is in private beta on Pro and coming soon for Launch and Grow. Human experts are in early access: browse experts on any plan, message or invite them on paid plans, and yearly Pro includes two human reviews; review-credit purchases, in-app contracts and payments to experts are not available. Production Foundation is available by request. See Byblos AI plans and access.

We did not design these agents in a vacuum. They exist because we felt these problems as builders, and watched our clients feel them too.

Key Takeaways

  1. Twenty months in, the mission from our launch post still holds: high standards, AI plus human expertise, accessible to startups.
  2. We now support startups well beyond tech: medical and well-being, insurance, entertainment, administration, and more.
  3. Bootstrapping kept us close to real pain points, ours as developers and CTOs, and our clients’ in product, brand, and campaigns.
  4. Those lessons, including our own mistakes, are what shaped Byblos AI into an AI co-founder platform.

Walk the Next Stretch With Us

If any part of this journey sounds like yours, we would love to compare notes. Get in touch to talk about your project, or start Free or sign up for Launch and try the platform our own pain points built. Grow and Byblos AI Pro need an access request.
